Caledon

Caledon, Ontario, Canada, with a population of 76,581 as of 2021, is a town within the Regional Municipality of Peel in the Greater Toronto Area. The name originates from a shortened version of Caledonia, the Roman name for Scotland.

Primarily rural, Caledon comprises numerous hamlets and small villages, along with the larger community of Bolton (population 26,795) situated in its southeastern quadrant, bordering York Region. Some urbanization extends southward, bordering the City of Brampton.

As the northernmost of Peel Region's three municipalities, Caledon is northwest of Brampton. Its land area spans 688 km2 (266 sq mi) according to Statistics Canada, or 696.04 km2 (268.74 sq mi) according to the city itself. This makes Caledon the largest municipality by area within the Greater Toronto Area.
